Terms of Service

The service

SailPing shows you where your shipping containers are. You add container numbers to your account and we show you their status, route and expected dates.

SailPing was called CargoLens until 20 October 2026. It is the same service, and your account carried over as it was.

Your account

You can create an account at any time. It becomes active once we have approved it and agreed your pricing with you.

Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens through your account, so tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it. We recommend turning on two-step sign-in.

Please give accurate details when you sign up and keep them up to date. We may suspend or close an account that is misused.

Pricing and payment

We agree your pricing with you before your account is activated: a monthly fee, which may be nothing, and a charge for each container you track, for each month you track it. Your account is one account however many people sign in to it: it is charged for every container added by anyone on your account, including people who have since left it. A change between charging per container and per bill of lading starts with the next calendar month; the month under way is charged the way it began.

A container is charged once for every calendar month in which it is tracked, starting with the month you add it. A container that is still being tracked when a new month begins is charged again for that month. A container we ask the shipping line about in a new month is charged for that month, even when the answer is that it has been delivered.

Stopping a container's tracking, archiving it or removing it ends its charges from the next month; the month it was already tracked in stays charged. A delivered container stops being tracked on its own. Tracking a delivered container again asks the shipping line whether it has started a new journey: in a new month that is charged once, as above, and if it has not, it stops again before the next month.

If we could not reach the shipping line about a container at all, it is not charged until we can. In the same way, a month in which we could not reach the shipping line about a container at all is not charged, even if it was tracked before. A container the shipping line has been asked about is charged even if the line has no information for it yet.

A container the shipping line says it has no record of is charged for that month, because the line was asked. Unless the line finds it before the month ends, it stops being tracked before the next month and we tell you why: check its number and its bill of lading, then track it again.

A container added in the last three minutes of a month is looked up, charged and counted toward your limit from the start of the next month.

Looking up a bill of lading is charged as one container for that month, whether or not you then keep any of its containers. The first container you keep from it is that charge, not an extra one.

A shipment you type in yourself is never looked up, is not charged and does not count toward your monthly limit. You keep it up to date; to have one of its containers tracked, delete it and add the container in the usual way.

Invoices are issued each calendar month and are payable on the terms shown on the invoice. We may change your pricing by giving you reasonable notice.

About the information we show

Container tracking information is not always complete or up to date, and it can change. We show you the most recent information available to us, and we tell you when it was last updated.

Please do not rely on this service alone where a deadline or a cost depends on it — for example demurrage, detention, customs or contractual delivery dates. Confirm anything that matters directly with your shipping line or agent.

Availability

We work to keep the service running, but we cannot promise it will be available without interruption.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including demurrage or detention charges, missed deadlines or lost profit. Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us during that period.

Ending your account

You can stop using the service and ask us to close your account at any time. Any fees already incurred remain payable. On request we will give you a copy of your data and then delete it, apart from records we are required to keep.

When nobody on your account can sign in any more, its containers stop being tracked before the next month and are not charged for it; the month already under way stays charged for every container we looked up in it. If the account is opened again, track a container again to follow it.

Privacy Policy

What we hold

Why we hold it

To provide the service you asked for, to invoice you, to keep your account secure, and to contact you about your account. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

Sharing

We share your information only where it is necessary to run the service for you, or where the law requires it. Card payments, if you use them, are handled entirely by our payment provider and card details never reach us.

If your account was set up for you by a freight forwarder, they can see the containers on it. That is the arrangement you have with them.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account is open, and afterwards only where we are required to keep records.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to the support address shown in your account and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Security

Passwords are stored in a form that cannot be read back, by us or by anyone else. Two-step sign-in is available on every account. Connections to the service are encrypted.
